Cannabidiol (more commonly known as CBD) has been in the news frequently as more information is made available to the public. The recent spike in media coverage can leave people with even more questions than answers regarding CBD, and we would like to provide answers to some of the questions that we receive most often.
What is CBD?
CBD is found in Cannabis Sativa L. Cannabis Sativa L. includes both hemp and marijuana. How is one plant considered hemp and the other marijuana? They are differentiated solely by a legal definition – hemp has less than 0.3% THC and marijuana has more than 0.3% THC. What is now considered “craft hemp” has less than 0.3% THC, but as much as 20% CBD. CBD is non-intoxicating, meaning that using it on its own (without THC) will not make one feel “high.”
CBD is a major topic of interest and research for scientists in both the United States and around the world. While we are eagerly awaiting more peer-reviewed scientific studies and journal articles about the benefits of CBD, there is very promising information that it may have value in supporting health and wellness. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.” The report goes on to say that, to date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of CBD.
Why Use CBD?
Customers have found our CBD products, such as CBD-Infused Soaking Salts, CBD-Infused Lotions, and CBD-Infused Body Oil—a favorite for CBD oil users—a welcome addition to their regular self-care regimen. Every day, we are learning more about CBD and how it fits into people’s daily lives, and you can read our customers’ testimonials as well. There is also a great deal of research that is currently being conducted to learn more about CBD. A great resource to learn more about CBD is Project CBD. We look forward to a time when we can affirm the pre-clinical data that has been available for the last few years.
I Won’t Get High?
No, you will not. CBD is non-intoxicating even if it enters the bloodstream. As Empower BodyCare products contain no THC, you will never feel “high” from using our hemp CBD products. In addition, unless a topical product is “transdermal,” topical products do not enter the bloodstream, but instead, interact with receptors in skin cells.
Because you deserve the best 3rd party lab-tested products on the market. At Empower, we have been providing thoughtfully sourced products since 2013. We conduct extensive research and development before we release any new product and we will never make a gimmicky product. Every batch of Empower products is randomly sampled by a 3rd party lab and tested for cannabinoid potency, homogeneity, solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and microbiological activity, including mold, yeast, E. coli, and coliforms for superior product quality. This commitment to quality and transparency has made Empower the premier CBD topical company in Oregon and one of the top CBD topical companies nationally.
Why is 3rd Party Lab Testing Important?
Hemp is a bioaccumulator and is often used to “clean” soil, meaning that hemp absorbs heavy metals and other chemical waste from the soil. To ensure that we are using the best CBD available, we partner with leading craft hemp producer East Fork Cultivars, one of the first USDA Certified Organic hemp farms in the United States. This way, we know exactly what we’re putting into all Empower BodyCare products. Then, by testing every batch we make, our customers know they are getting the highest-quality plant-based CBD lotions, oils, and bath salts available.
Our products are:
